“Life is too short to drink bad wine.” This past Saturday 90+ Cellars lived up to that statement, serving up samples of our wine to Phantom Gourmet Phans at the annual Phantom Gourmet Food & Wine Phest at the Boston Cyclorama. We think there's no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon or evening than with some upbeat music, delicious food and good wine.
Forgive us for saying this, but a lot of wine shows are really, really boring. You'd think it would be easy to make a big tasting fun (you're in a room full of unlimited wine!), but when there's too much to choose from and more wine snobs than you can shake a stick at, things can go from exciting to exhausting pretty fast. Luckily, Phantom Gourmet knows how to throw a great party. They created a fun and unpretentious environment with a selection of 30 or so wines (so you can actually taste everything), plus some seriously fun food choices like mini cupcakes from Cakes by Erin and creamy clam chowder from Cabby Shack. By the end of the night, everyone (including the Boston Bruins mascot) was getting down on the purple dance floor. Now that's more like it!
If there's one thing we absolutely love to do, it's share our wine, and during the Phest we got to do just that. We met people of all kinds, from devoted 90+ Cellars drinkers, to total newcomers, and even a couple devoted beer drinkers (who enjoyed our Lot 33 Rose a little more than they thought they would). Guests sampled a variety of what we have to offer, including our crowd-pleasing Lot 23 Malbec, and our ever-refreshing Lot 50 Prosecco. The hit of the night though was the Lot 2 Sauvignon Blanc—a favorite often inspiring two, or three (and sometimes even four) extra samples.
Between pours, we took tons of pictures at the event. Here are a few of our favorite shots:

Needless to say, we had a blast, and we're already excited to serve up some wine and fun next year!
