TASTING NOTES

This silky red wine is reminiscent of lush raspberries, ripe cherries, and a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils. With its abundant fruitiness and lip-smacking freshness, this suave sipper is best served with a slight chill.

DESCRIPTION

Known locally as “Breton,” Cabernet Franc thrives in the cool, gentle climate of France's Loire Valley. Sitting on the banks of the Loire River, Bourgueil — along with its neighbor to the south, Chinon — is one of just a few appellations in the Loire Valley that is known for its red wines.

Grape bunches are harvested by hand and transported to the winery where they are gently crushed and fermented in controlled conditions to accentuate the varietal characteristics of Cabernet Franc. Malolactic fermentation follows with a short maturation in tank. A smaller percentage is matured in barrel to add softness of texture and complexity of flavors and aromas.
