The fine, sandy, well-draining loam soils of Lodi impart distinctive characteristics to the Zinfandel grapes, resulting in a wine that shows floral aromas, red fruit notes, and a soft tannin profile. Additionally, because of Zinfandel’s propensity to ripen unevenly, even within the same bunch, both flavor types can come across in the wine – a perfect mix of jammy and fresh. Sweet baking spices from maturation with new oak helps round out the palate and provide tannin structure.
