Rioja in Northern Spain is best known for barrel-aged red wines made from Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes. It is Spain's most famous wine region. This particular Rioja wine is made from 100% Tempranillo. Vineyards are located among the smooth slopes of the Sierra de Yega where altitudes reach up to 2,400 feet. Reaching optimum grape ripening in the vineyard allows the wine to develop mature tannins, which will result in wines with balanced structure and aging potential.
The grapes that go into this wine are hand-harvested from hillside vineyards of limestone and rocky soils near the Rio Oja. The wine matures for a minimum of one year in barrel (Crianza).
