DESCRIPTION
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is one of Italy's most famous wines, and is made
from Montepulciano grapes grown in the Abruzzo region, on Italy's Adriatic
coast. This wine is made from grapes that are grown organically on hillsides
descending towards the sea, near the towns of Fossacesia and Pagliet. There,
warm and dry summers allow for the perfect ripening conditions. Cool
breezes from the mountains and the sea also provide relief from the intense
sunshine and preserve acidity in the grapes and the freshness of the wine.
The Montepulciano grapes are fermented under strict temperature control
in stainless steel tanks resulting in a smooth and elegant red wine that is
uniquely expressive. The wine is matured for 6-8 months in a blend of tank
and barrel before being bottled.
TASTING NOTES
This wine is bright ruby in color with aromas of blackberry, black currant and spice. Undertones of roasted chocolate give way to smooth tannins and a perfectly balanced finish. Perfect for pairing with spaghetti bolognese, sautéed mushrooms, or sliced Parmigiano-Reggiano.
