DESCRIPTION
The small town of Sancerre sits on the banks of the river Loire just across
from its famous neighbor, Pouilly Fume. The vineyards that surround the
town are planted on ancient soils of limestone and flint, producing racy
Sauvignon Blanc wines that are rich with stony minerals.
One of our most sought-after wines, Lot 126 Sancerre is produced
in small quantities and represents one of the greatest values on the
Sancerre shelf. After grapes are picked, the fruit is gently pressed, then
goes through a cool fermentation. The wine matures 4-6 months
on fine lees prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES
A delicate perfume of white flowers with hints of citrus and flint give way to a silken texture and grapefruit-laced finish. Balanced and crisp, this is a wine destined for the finest tables, but happiest among a humble goat cheese topped salad.
