That’s why we started Ninety+ Cellars.

It all started in the spring of 2009. Armed with a copy of the latest Wine Spectator, founder Kevin Mehra set out on a mission to bring higher quality wine to the market for a better price. He started calling wineries with a history of high ratings to ask if they had extra wine for sale. Some told him to get lost, but in the end, he found a handful of wineries that liked his concept. The plan was simple: we put their wine in our bottle, and sell it for less.

But why would wineries want to do that?

You may recall that the economy wasn’t in the best shape in 2009. Demand for wines priced more than $20 a bottle had plummeted and inventories were piling up. Rather than discount their wine and erode the value of their brand, we found that wineries were willing to part with a certain percentage of their production for a reduced price.

It was a win/win scenario. Wineries got to sell more wine, and consumers got access to better wine at lower prices.

The landscape has changed quite a bit since we launched; but our mission and our ability to offer great wine has not. With our head wine buyer, Brett Vankoski, at the helm we continue to seek out the best opportunities in the market and turn those into great values in the bottle for you. We do this because we love great wine, and we know you do too.

    About Kevin Mehra

    Kevin is the President and Founder of Latitude Beverage and the brand 90+ Cellars. He has been in the wine and spirits industry since 2000, when he started with Phillips Beverage Company to build the company’s business on the East Coast. He helped launch UV Vodka into a brand that currently sells over 750,000 cases, and was ultimately promoted to Director of International Sales. Kevin subsequently resigned to start Latitude Beverage in 2007, and launched the 90+ Cellars brand in late 2009, and he’s been bringing fine wine for less to wine lovers across the country ever since. Outside of the office, you can find Kevin boating in Boston Harbor, watching football and hockey, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

    About Brett Vankoski

    For Brett, wine started as a hobby. While working in corporate america, he began taking wine classes at Boston University. Two years later, Brett left the corporate world to pursue his MBA. Brett’s Masters in Beverage Appreciation consisted of compiling a small wine collection in his son’s closet, arguing that dry rosé is a great choice for beer drinkers, and discovering that not everyone likes the wines he likes no matter how crazy good they are.

    In 2009, Kevin Mehra asked Brett to help him to launch 90+ Cellars. Since then, he spends most of his days, evenings and weekends tasting, selecting, selling and promoting the wines of 90+ Cellars, Magic Door, Iron Side, Earthshaker, and Lila. 

    Wine he’s drinking when he’s not drinking 90+ Cellars
    Cru Beaujolais, dry German Rieslings, Loire Valley whites, Barbera and Nebbiolo from Itay’s Piedmont and pretty much anything he hasn’t tried yet. The funkier the better.

    About Bob Lindblad

    Bob has spent half his life in the wine and spirits business managing markets throughout the Northeast. After spending many years working for some of the “big guys” like Gallo and Terlato, he finds it refreshing to work with an aggressive start up with a no holds barred attitude like 90+ Cellars. Out of the box thinkers, risk takers. Handbooks on policies and procedures are replaced by a ”just do it” attitude. Bob spends his days hop scotching (not really) across CT, RI, NY and NJ getting the word out about the hottest brand in the market place since double sided Scotch tape!

    About Terry Lozoff

    As VP Marketing, Terry is responsible for overseeing the marketing and branding efforts for Latitude’s portfolio of wine brands, driving digital marketing and events, creating a cohesive retail presence and working with our national sales force to grow sales.

    Prior to taking this role, Terry spent nearly 15 years in the marketing/ad agency business. During that time he founded two agencies that pushed the boundaries on experiential marketing, social media and interactive brand experiences. The later of which, Antler, was acquired in 2013 by GY&K (now, GYK Antler). Across these three agencies, Terry developed and lead integrated marketing campaigns and strategies for companies including New Balance, MillerCoors, Sweet Baby Ray’s, Breville, Harpoon Brewery, PayPal and New Hampshire Travel & Tourism.

    About Michael Munk

    Michael is currently a sales manager in Connecticut, servicing Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield Counties.  He has degrees in Fashion Design and Business Management, but wine is his true passion. The son of a French immigrant, Michael grew up around wine.  The first wine he actually remembers tasting and being intrigued by was the Chilean Castillo de Diablo from Concha y Toro, which he had with his Aunt and Uncle in a Spanish restaurant in the South of France when he was 17, followed by tequila over lime sorbet.

    Rick spent a large part of his college experience “learning” about wine, beer and spirits and found a way to make a career of it! Rick’s industry experience includes working in Colorado as a wholesaler and nationally as the Sales Manager of a large family winery. In 2016, Rick introduced Ninety+ Cellars to Colorado. Rick has found his greatest career satisfaction in growing small brands into large and impactful portfolios.

    In his free time Rick enjoys the company of his wife, grown sons and a bottle of 90+ Cellars while fly fishing, backpacking and snowboarding the mountains of Colorado.

    As the 90+ Cellars mid-Atlantic sales manager, John has combined a drive for sales and a love for wine into the perfect career. He has enthusiastically introduced customers to the satisfaction of a Saturday night taste at a Tuesday night price, and can be found traveling the region inviting customer to taste the best new wines in town.

    In his free time John enjoys spending time with his family including his dog Tiller, and sailing, fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay.

    About Joel Joyce

    Joel is a beverage industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience.

    Prior to joining the team at Latitude Beverage, Joyce was the Eastern U.S. National Brand manager at Southwest Wines. The New Mexico-based company represents more than seven wineries, including the top-selling Mimosa company in the U.S., Soleil Mimosa, as well as St. Clair Winery, Blue Teal and a variety of specialty wine products. During his time there, Joyce was responsible for selling many of these brands through distribution channels to major retailers in 25 states.

    Joel is married with 2 children and resides in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

    About Ryan Gillian

    Ryan started Selling 90 + Cellars wines in early 2011, and hasn’t looked back since. He spends his days hitting the streets of Chicago; interacting with everyone from wine managers, to store employees, to customers in the aisles of liquor stores. He loves to do tastings on the weekends and interact with the customers who are drinking (and loving) 90+ Cellars. Ryan spends his free time with his wife Cara, and kids Mary and Liam hanging out in the city, getting together with friends, or vacationing in Florida.
