Rioja in Northern Spain is best known for oak-aged red wines made from Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes. It is Spain's most famous wine region. This particular Rioja wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes and was aged in oak for over one year.
Near the Rio Oja, Tempranillo vines are grown on limestone and rocky soils in hillside vineyards of the Sierra de Yerga. There, altitudes can reach up to 2,400 feet. Grapes are handpicked once they have reached optimal ripeness, ensuring that the resulting wine will have developed tannins, balanced structure and the capacity for aging. The finished wine is full-bodied with plush red and black fruit and an elegant texture.
