The red wines of Beaujolais Villages are made from Gamay bunches harvested on vines planted on sloping vineyards in the foothills of France’s Massif Central. The vines grow in the traditional freestanding bush/gobelet style near the villages La Chapelle-de-Guinchay and Romanèche-Thorins, which lie just east of Fleurie and Chenas. The soil is a free-draining mixture of decomposed granite, clay, and sand.
This wine is made from 100% Gamay. Handpicked grapes are vinified using carbonic maceration, which helps to extract fruit, and produces bright, lively wines best consumed fresh.
