    Perched over 1,000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Gran Sasso Range, this vineyard’s chalky clay soils, along with strong diurnal temperature change, help the grapes to develop complexity and balance. There, pergola-trained vines and Southeastern exposure help this late ripening varietal reach full maturity.

    The grapes were picked in late fall, long after the region’s peaks had received their first snowfall. The wine was fermented and racked in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, it was aged in older French oak barrels for 2 years.


    Enticing aromas of black cherry, vanilla bean, and sage are harbingers of the abundance of dark fruit and supple tannins on the palate. A rich, full body gives way to a long, elegant finish with subtle notes of spice. This wine is built for a hearty ragu or Bolognese.
