Chénas is one of ten crus of Beaujolais known for producing distinctive red wines made from the Gamay grape. The bunches are hand harvested from vines pruned in the shape of a gobelet that sprout from granite soils on gentle southern-facing slopes just south of the city of Macon. The wine is made by means of partial carbonic maceration which increases color while maintaining a soft texture.
Balanced, layered and fresh with an earthy intensity and delicate, floral aromas. This is the ideal bottle to open with barbecued spare ribs, a smoky red lentil soup with rosemary, or a simple baguette and cheese.

I love Cru Beaujolais wines, and for around $15 this is one of the best values I've ever found. Has layers of flavor and all of the deliciousness you expect to find in these wines. A gem!
