It’s been a busy winter at 90+ Cellars. We’ve been working on a lot of new wines and new vintages that we’re really excited to share with you. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve got coming up for the spring…
Rosé All Day
The growth rate of rosé over the past few years has been staggering, and we don’t expect this pink revolution to slow down anytime soon. We just released the new vintage of our most popular rosé, Lot 33, and you should be able to find it at a store near you (if not now) in the next few weeks.
You’ll notice that this year’s Lot 33 Rosé has a brand new label, and an accompanying 1.5L bottle (also with a new label). We hope you like it!
Lot 33, however, is just the start of rosé season for us. We also are getting ready to launch an all new Lila Rosé (our canned wine brand), followed by a new vintage of our Lot 132 Reserve Provence Rosé, and a new vintage of our Magic Door Sancerre Rose. So, whether you’re looking for a great tasting everyday rosé, a rosé to take on-the-go, a large bottle of rosé for a party, or a nicer rosé for a special evening, we’ve got you covered!
Our Wine Director, Brett Vankoski, has been busy looking for some great reserve whites to bring into our lineup for the spring. And in April we’ll finally get to see some of the fruits of his labor.
First off, we’ve got a screaming new vintage of our Reserve Sancerre (Lot 126). Sancerre had a challenging vintage last year so there was less wine to go around. But the best producers were able to turn out some terrific wine. So, although there’s a little less of it to go around this year, our 2016 vintage Sancerre is going to be a great buy.
Next, we’ve managed to secure a small lot of Chardonnay from the small appellation of Chalone, in Monterey County. You may have heard of the winery Chalone Vineyard, but there is also a small AVA where Chalone Vineyard is based, also called Chalone. The AVA sits more than 1,500 feet about the Salinas Valley in an arid, rocky landscape of limestone and granite. This land has, for many years, produced Burgundian-inspired wines that once helped California outscore France in 1976’s famous Judgment of Paris. Lot 138 Chalone Chardonnay will be hitting stores throughout April, so keep your eyes peeled!
Heading into May, we’ll be releasing a handful of new vintages of some of our favorite Piedmontese wines including Lot 27 Reserve Barbera, 2015 and Lot 26 Collector Barolo, 2013.
If you’ve enjoyed these wines in the past, you’re in for a treat this year. The 2013 vintage in Barolo has been shaping up to be a vintage similar in quality to the legendary 2010 vintage. These wines have enough flavor and ripeness to be enjoyed earlier than most Barolo vintages.
The 2015 vintage in Piedmont was also exceptional. And we think you’re going to love this year’s Barbera.
We’ve got a few more new releases in the works for Spring so stay tuned! And until then, go enjoy some rosé!
