This past Sunday (and last month too), we donated wine to a very fun summer event – the Riverside BBQ Series at the Harry Parker Boathouse in Brighton, MA.
Once per month in June, July, and August, people gather by the water to listen to music, drink beer and wine, play games, and try BBQ from different area restaurants. What could be more summer than that?!
We served Lot 50 Prosecco, Lot 2 Sauvignon Blanc, Lot 23 Malbec, and Lot 42 Pinot Grigio. The whites were definitely a hit given the hot weather, but some tried-and-true red wine lovers stuck with the Malbec. The runaway hit of the day though was by far the Prosecco, thanks to a creation we like to call the Lot 50 Shandy. Half our Prosecco, half UFO Big Squeeze Shandy. Both were gone before the event ended thanks to this beverage going “viral” among attendees!
For beer purists, there was PLENTY to choose from thanks to the generous folks at Peak Organic, Cisco, Harpoon, Narragansett, Notch, and Rising Tide.
Some of our favorites that we sampled included…
And oh wow, the food! Brass Union, McCabe's on Mass, and Bull McCabe's Pub served some incredible dishes. Yes there were the expected pulled pork sliders, but also unique fare like gazpacho with plantain chips and watermelon cous cous!
After dinner was served, local ice cream shop Scoopsies scooped out some very unique flavors like carrot ginger sorbet, Turkish coffee, and banana chai. The ice cream was snatched up quickly!
We had the chance to chat with a lot of fun people, some familiar with the 90+ Cellars story and some not. Whether we're listening to current fans tell us about our favorite lots or suggesting wines to new fans, we have a blast doing what we do.
Don't miss out on the third and final session on Sunday 8/17 from 4-8PM. Same time, same place, different day. And different restaurants and music! Acclaimed Cambridge spots West Bridge, State Park, and Hungry Mother will be on hand to serve what could be some very interesting and unique BBQ. Play cornhole and dance to the sounds of Tigerman WOAH!, The Silks, and Dave Wells. For a limited time, enter code “rootdown” at checkout and get $5 off the $35 ticket – a total steal for an all-inclusive event!
