This past Friday a unique group of people gathered in Allston's Boston Wine School to start the weekend with not a bang, but a brush. What made this group of people unique? Because they all chose to spend Friday night not just with the usual celebratory food and drink, but also with a blank canvas and a painter's palette. We have long been partners with Paint Nite and enjoy getting together with other creative-minded folks to (as their slogan says) “drink creatively”. And considering the fact that our headquarter's is located directly above Boston Wine School, master provider of snacks that pair excellently with wine, it was a given that three of us were going to put on a pretty spectacular event.
Okay so maybe it was four of us putting on the event…because The Most Interesting Man showed up. And he was made all the more Interesting given his wardrobe choice – our 2014 Drink Rose t-shirt!
Before the painting began, guests had the chance to get some food and vino in their systems! We poured a nice variety of wine so that everyone would have a chance to drink not only what he or she already loves, but also something totally new!
From left to right:
- Lot 50 Prosecco
- Lot 65 French Fusion White
- Lot 88 Chardonnay
- Lot 33 Rosé
- Lot 106 Pinot Noir
- Lot 53 Cabernet Sauvignon
The event's artist Callie Hastings is no stranger to Paint Nite, and that was pretty obvious given her vibrant personality and the ease with which she commanded the painters' attention…even after the wine had been flowing for a bit! She also invited a special guest to the event – her mom, who also happened to be the birthday girl!
The painting's theme fit the evening perfectly, and despite the fact that no two paintings looked the same (and the fact that no glass was left unfilled very long), everyone's artwork turned out great!
During the event, 90+ VP and Co-Founder Brett Vankoski was doing all sorts of crazy things like jumping on counters and waving his hands about. Crazy I tell you!
But guests were glad for Brett's shenanigans, because he was hollering out Wine Trivia questions! Some lucky winners got to take home bottles of 90+ wine, including this very happy winner of a bottle of Lot 65 French Fusion White. The evening was not just about creative drinking and painting, but also about guests learning what they were drinking.
Some 90+ employees even joined in the fun and participated.
Overall it was an excellent night at Boston Wine School with 90+ Cellars and Paint Nite. We love drinking our wine with others, becaues great wine is meant to be shared! And if you've got a creative release and some yummy food too, then you're really all set for not just Friday but ANY night. Thanks Boston Wine School and Paint Nite for being great partners once again!
