Our Kind of Riot
We have been caught up in two riots this month…but don't worry, we're OK! We aren't in trouble! In fact we are getting ready to partake in ANOTHER riot – Wine Riot that is, taking place this coming weekend in the Windy City. 90+ Cellars has long been a partner with the event's creator Second Glass, a fast-growing company that brings wine lovers together through technology and events. We partied in NYC, we brought the house down in Boston, and this weekend it's time to take our wine to Chi-town. Are you attending? Considering attending? Then read on to find out what to expect, because today we're recapping our experience Friday 4/18 and Saturday 4/19 at Wine Riot Boston.
90+ Cellars was at all three Wine Riot sessions – Friday night and Saturday afternoon/night. We poured newly launched vintages (like 2013 Lot 53 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2013 Lot 33 Rose) as well as old favorites (like Lot 50 Prosecco and Lot 2 Sauvignon Blanc).
Our table also offered up some goodies, like a discount code for tickets to our Boston Rose Cruise (psst – it's DRINKROSE33) and all-too-accurate stickers.
Fans who subscribed to our email list at our table also got a little something extra – some rockin' 90+ Cellars shades. Hopefully they'll will spring to FINALLY show up here in Boston! But don't worry Chicago, you'll have the chance to get some too.
Of course Wine Riot features many other wine vendors and even some food vendors – it's not just about us! We had a good time exploring other tables, which are organized by geographic region. Love Spanish reds? You can find them all in the same area. Want some California Cab? A few tables are your one-stop shop. It makes it very convenient and easy to find the wine you want to try most – which is very necessary given the chaotic party-vibe of each Wine Riot. Speaking of party, Quady Winery served up made-to-order cocktails using their dessert wines. Refreshing and unique!
As a MA-based company, we have to give a shoutout to fellow local vendor Westport Rivers. Caitlin and Jeannie paid a visit to their table and loved every single wine they tried!
Both free and paid food vendors were set up to feed those wine-induced munchies. The usual suspects, like oysters and cheese (thanks to our pals the Cellars at Japser Hill for bartering with us!), were of course ever present.
And then there was the food that may not be at top of mind when it comes to wine pairings, like savory pies by KO Catering & Pies or Vietnamese rice bowls and sandwiches by Bon Me.
Along with all of this, Wine Riot Chicago attendees can expect to find this weekend features like Wine 101 booths (our Lot 106 Pinot Noir and Lot 88 Chardonnay were featured in NYC's) and wine Crash Courses, a Bubbly Bar (which we recommend visiting as well as trying our Lot 50 bubbles!), an Instagram station, and some very bad-ass (temporary) tattoos.
If we had a blast working at Wine Riot (and we did) then you're practically guaranteed a good time as a straight-up attendee. Wine Riot Chicago is this Friday 5/2 and Saturday 5/3, and tickets are still available (and well worth the price). For the chance to win free tickets, you can participate on the Q&A sessions Second Glass hosts on their Facebook page. In fact, we will be partaking in one tomorrow (Wednesday 4/30), so be sure to stop by and ask us a question for a chance to win!
Have you ever attended a big wine-tasting event like this?
What do you think would be your favorite part of Wine Riot?
