It’s no mystery that people are cuckoo for New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Grassy, sassy, and delightfully citrusy, these wines are great for sipping solo or pairing with zesty seafood or white meat. Because of this, our most popular wine by a landslide is our Lot 2 Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand.
But here at 90+ Cellars, we also believe in variety. When it comes to other wine staples like Cabernet, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir you have a couple different wines to choose from, but it was hard to imagine that we’d ever find another Sauvignon Blanc as great as Lot 2. Then a few months ago, we tasted something surprisingly extraordinary: a gem of a Sauvignon Blanc from Lake County California.
I know, I know. California is known for producing plenty of knockout wines, but let’s be honest: Sauvignon Blanc from California often gets overlooked. That’s why this wine is a real treasure. When we tasted this wine we knew we had to have it. Think all the Lot 2 flavors you love, but slightly more mellow, perfectly balanced, and incredibly drinkable. And just like that, you now have two outstanding Sauvignon Blancs to choose from.
If you’re a die-hard Lot 2 fanatic, fear not. That wine isn’t going anywhere. But we highly recommend giving the Lot 64 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc a spin. And at around $10 a bottle for each wine, you don’t have to sweat too much when you make your decision. In fact, I’d recommend trying a bottle of both. Enjoy a glass of Lot 2 solo before dinner for that in-your-face flavor that will awaken your palate, then sit down for your meal with a glass of Lot 64 that’s outstandingly food friendly. See? You can have the best of both worlds.
