We’ll be honest: we were going to write a blog post about wine recommendations for St. Patrick’s Day. We pondered the type of wine typically offered in Irish pubs and which wine goes best with corned beef and cabbage, then we asked ourselves, what will we be drinking on the 17th? Unsurprisingly the general consensus was “actually, I’ll be drinking beer.” We have to admit, St. Patrick’s Day is one holiday where even the most devout wine lovers are likely to crack open a cold one to celebrate.
Here at 90+ Cellars you know we love beer almost as much as we love wine (and know there’s plenty of room for both). So in true St. Paddy’s day spirit we’re going to take a short break from wine and tell you about a few brews our staff members dig. Slainte!
Conor McGrath, Finance Manager: When you’re getting beer recommendations from someone named Conor McGrath you know you’re in good (and Irish) hands. Conor is a fan of the Founder's All Day IPA, but also enjoys a good old-fashioned Guinness (or Beamish Stout if he can get it)!
Jason Dunn, Director of Logistics: Jason’s current favorite is the Wachussett Larry Imperial IPA, a beer brewed in conjunction with the folks at The Publick House in Brookline, MA (not so far from 90+ HQ). This is a well-balanced double IPA with aromatic hops and a pretty cool backstory.
Brett Vankoski, Vice President, Wine & Marketing Director: If dark craft beer is your thing then you’ll be happy sipping Brett’s “Saturday Night Beer”: Jack’s Abby Smoke & Dagger. This is a full-bodied and smoky beer balanced out with sweet chocolaty malt. Of course, on Tuesday nights you may just as well find this Philly native enjoying a cold Yuengling now that it’s available here in Boston.
Kevin Mehra, President: When it comes to beer your options are pretty much endless – you could go for years without drinking the same beer twice. But when the choices get overwhelming it’s nice to have go-to brew, like the Harpoon IPA (Kevin’s favorite!). Balanced, refreshing, and widely available, you can always count on this beer.
Now that we’ve shared some of our favorite beers, we want to know what you’re drinking this St. Patrick’s day! Share in the comments or tweet your response to @90pluscellars.
