The start of Rosé season just might be our favorite time of year. One sip conjures up thoughts of long sunny days, beach vacations, and kicking back with friends. So whether you’re a long time fan of dry French rosé, or just looking to try something new this summer, we have a few ideas that will elevate your sipping experience. Here are 5 ways to enjoy rosé this summer, in honor of the arrival of the newest vintage of our French Rosé!
1. In the great outdoors. Rosé may very well be the ultimate summer wine, so what better way to enjoy it than having a glass or two outside? Patios, on the beach, on your front porch…you really can’t go wrong as long as you’re out in the sun. But our favorite place of all to drink pink is on a boat, which is why we’re bringing back the Boston Rosé party! On June 7th we’re cruising around the Boston Harbor on a boat loaded up with the latest vintage of our Lot 33 Rosé. If you want to join the party head over to our EventBrite page and use the code DRINKROSE33 to get $10 off your ticket!
2. With some barbecue. The bold flavors of pulled pork, ribs, and steak tips usually need an equally hearty red wine to match. But don’t underestimate the power of pink. Rosé is one of the most versatile and food-friendly wines out there, combining the flavor and structure of a nice red with the refreshing qualities of a lovely white. Good rule of thumb: if a food tastes great with beer, it probably also pairs well with rosé…and with that information, your backyard BBQ party just got classier.
3. Make sangria. We would be perfectly happy sipping rosé just as it is all summer long, but sometimes it’s fun to play with new flavors and mix things up a little. We love this sparkling rosé sangria recipe from Alejandro Alvarez, founder of The Ki Bar and Bar Manager at Stella in Boston’s South End:
750mL Lot 33 Rosé Languedoc
750mL Lot 50 Prosecco
1.5L Bacardi Arctic Grape Rum
750mL peach liqueur
Diced pears, apples, and pineapples to garnish
Simply stir these ingredients together for a delightfully refreshing Sangria that serves 8-10 people!
4.Celebrate! Sure, bubbles are the stand-by when it’s time to propose a toast. But there’s something fun and festive about toasting with pink drink, so don’t rule it out! If your summer schedule is packed with weddings, graduations, and other warm-weather celebrations, raise your glass to trying something different and bring a bottle of rosé to the party!
5. Share it with a friend. This almost goes without saying, but the best way to enjoy any type of wine is to drink it with a good friend. And when it comes to rosé, some people need a little bit of encouragement before they make the leap into drinking pink. So when you need a great bottle of wine to share, pick up some rosé and pour it for your friends. Chances are they’ll dig it as much as you do, and you’ll have a solid crew of rosé drinking companions all summer long.
We want to help you #drinkrose, so we're offering free shipping on 12 bottles or more of Lot 33 Rose (2013) in our online store. Not ready to commit to that much pink? Not to worry, you can buy 6 bottles or more and receive a free Drink Rose t-shirt!
